READING, Pa. – The Albright College baseball team (3-4, 0-1 MAC Commonwealth) officially begun Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth play this afternoon against York College (Pa.) (7-1, 1-0 MAC Commonwealth) at home. The Spartans won today's game over the Lions by a final score of 9-5.
Brendan Stuhltrager led the way for the Lions going 3-5 in the game. Stuhltrager has been swinging a hot bat to begin the Lions season. The strong day at the plate gives Stuhltrager his fifth multi hit game of the year and second three hit game of the season.
Three different Lions recorded two hits in todays game.
Roman Berretta,
Jack Gilmer and
Chris Gorla all had two hits by way of singles. Gilmer finished with two runs scored and an RBI while Gorla added a run scored of his own.
The Spartans jumped out to an 5-1 lead and would see their lead grow to 8-1 after four innings of play. The score would remain the same until the sixth inning with the Lions looking to get back in the game.
Stuhltrager came to bat in the bottom of the sixth inning with the bases loaded. Stuhltrager laced a triple to deep right field one hopping the wall. The triple brought in three runs for the Lions cutting the spartan lead down to 8-5.
York would tack on another run late in the game to win the opening game of MAC Commonwealth play for both teams 9-5.
Josh Tudor came on in relief for Albright tossing five solid innings. Tudor struck out four while only allowing two runs scored keeping the Lions in the game through the middle innings.
Zander Tesoriere and
Roman Berretta rounded out the hits for the Lions this afternoon recording each going for a single. Recording a walk and a run scored this afternoon was

Albright and York (Pa.) will square off tomorrow for a pair of games on the campus of York College (Pa.). The double header is set for a 12 p.m. start time with game two starting directly after.
