YORK, Pa. – The Albright College baseball team (3-6) concluded their first Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth weekend series of the season this afternoon against York College (Pa.) (9-1). The Spartans took both games of the double header winning game one 20-1 and game two 4-3.
Game 1 (7 INN):
Albright collected four hits in game one all from different Lions. Recording a hit was
Trey Smith,
Nick Bamrick,
Jermane Miller and
Eddie Meredith.
Meredith tallied the RBI in game one for the Lions scoring Bamrick from third base. Meredith now has four RBIs this season for the Lions. The four RBIs are good for a tie of third for the most RBIs on the team.
Trey Smith earned his third hit of the season going 1-2 at the plate with a single.
For Miller and Bamrick, the singles marked the second hit of the season for both first year Lions.
Zander Tesoriere and
Carter Cordora each reached base for Albright by way of hit by pitch.
Game 2 (9 INN):
The Lions bats fared batter in game two against York recording seven hits overall.
Brendan Stuhltrager and Chirs Gorla each recorded two hits for the Lions.
Gorla plated two runs in the sixth inning apart of the Lions three run top of the sixth. Gorla doubled down the left field line scoring two runs. Gorla brought home
Roman Berretta and Stuhltrager to make it a 4-2 game with York in front.
Nick Barton was up next after Gorla and roped a double to right field scoring Gorla making it a 4-3 game in favor of York. The double for Barton was his third of the year and the RBI marked number five on the year.
The Lions had their chances to tie or take the lead over the final three innings of play but the Spartan pitching staff was able to work out of jams securing the narrow win over Albright in game two.
Gorla's double is the first career double for the first-year player. Gorla's double brought in two RBIs for RBI numbers three and four of the young season.
Stuhltrager's two hits today gives him his second multi hit game of the series against York College. Stuhltragers season average is now up to .471 through nine games.
Berretta went 1-3 with a run scored this afternoon with
Zander Tesoriere rounding out the hits for Albright. Tesoriere added a stolen base, his second of the season.
