READING, Pa. – The offense came early and often for the Albright men's lacrosse team (3-2) scoring 23 goals in the Lions 23-3 win over visiting Delaware Valley (2-1) this afternoon on their home turf. The Lions win today gives them their third win of the season, matching the amount of wins the team had all of last year.
James Elko was a man on a mission this afternoon breaking one program record and tying another one. Elko dished out a career high 11 assists to break the previous record of eight assists in a single game. Elko was not done their as he also added two goals scored in today's game. The 13 total points for Elko ties the program record of 13 points in a single game.
Joost Van der Horst continues his phenomenal play to begin his Albright career scoring a career high eight goals in today's game. The goals came early and often for Van Der Horst as he scored in every quarter of todays game. Van der Horst came into today as the MAC Commonwealth's leading goal scorer and only furthered his lead heading into next week.
Justin Moroney earned a career high in goals today scoring three. Moroney scored the three goals on only six total shots for an impressive shooting percentage of .500%.
Albright was in complete control of today's game scoring the games first five goals. By halftime the Lions saw their lead grow to 10-1.
The second half was more of the same as the Lions offense continued to roll while the defense continued to stifle the Delaware Valley attack. Albright's lead grew to 16-1 by the end of the third quarter. The Lions cruised through the final 15 minutes of the game in a dominating performance.
Luke Williams added two goals today marking his first two goals scored of the season. Williams picked up five ground balls in an all-around strong performance.
Peter Alessi and
Lucas Dees each scored a goal today for Albright. Both goals the marked the first of their careers for both individuals.
Justinus Park went 23-27 in faceoffs today giving the Lions ample opportunities to score while controlling possession.
Sean McNicholas was masterful in net today making five saves and allowing one goal to pick up his third win of the season.
Albright fired a ridiculous 65 shots in today's game more than doubling up the Aggies output. Albright was 19-22 in clear attempts and picked up 41 total ground balls.
