READING, Pa. – The Albright women's lacrosse team (1-4) picked up their first win of the season this afternoon over visiting Delaware Valley (1-2) in a rain-soaked game. The Lions took today's contest 15-8 over Delaware Valley.
Lucy Moreland scored a career high four goals this afternoon on only five total shots. Moreland had everything working today and was able to beat the Aggies netminder four out of five times. Moreland added an assist to her overall stat line to finish the game with five points.
A quartet of Lions each scored twice in today's game in the forms of
Kayte Moist,
Brianna Kung,
Sarah Chernis and
Zoe Dicks.
The Lions jumped out to a 7-0 lead before the first quarter ended. Delaware Valley begun to battle back in the second quarter and made it a ballgame at halftime closing the Lions lead down to just 7-4 after 30 minutes of play.
The Aggies scored the first two goals of the second half to make it a 7-6 game with Albright in front by one. The next four goals in the game all went to Albright to take a 11-6 lead into the final frame.
Albright was able to handle their business over the final 15 minutes of the game to secure the home victory and the first win of the young season.
In addition to Moist's two goals, the senior attacker added two assists, five ground balls two caused turnovers and eight draw controls. Overall Moist finished the afternoon with five points. Chernis matched Moist with two assists while collecting four ground balls.
A trio of Lions scored one goal this afternoon which were
Riley Basht,
Katelyn Patrick and
Olivia Ball. Basht added an assist to her stat line while Patrick recorded seven draw controls.
Abby Hudson was strong defensively for Albright scooping up five ground balls.
Caelainn Morrison earned the start in net and made seven saves in the win.

Albright will head back on the road on Wednesday, March 6 squaring off against Juniata. The game is set for a 4 p.m. start time.
