READING, Pa. – The Albright women's tennis team came ready to play earning a 9-0 sweep over PSU Abington in their first match of the '24 spring season.
Due to inclement weather, the match was forced inside and was played at the John. Scholl LifeSports Center. Due to playing inside the match was played on a modified basis as only one set was played in each match. The matches were the best of eight and six games.
The Lions won each and every singles match played this afternoon. In order from #1 singles to #6 singles the winning Lions were
Alex Pancu (8-3),
Elicia Aponte (8-0),
Valeria Sanchez (8-0),
Megan Colaneri (7-6, tiebreak 7-5),
Macie Littleton (6-0) and
Saba Soroush (6-1).
The doubles matches were more of the same for the Lions. Albright won each doubles match by five games or more to secure the sweep over Penn State Abington. Pancu and
Michelle Timothy won 8-3 in #1 doubles, Sanchez and
Alaina Smith won 8-2 in #2 doubles and Aponte and
Alizabeth Zarnofsky won their #3 doubles match 8-1.
