CAMDEN, N.J. – The Albright College softball team (3-9) went on the road this afternoon marking their first true road games of the season against non-conference opponent Rutgers-Camden (7-7). The Scarlet Raptors got the better of the Lions this afternoon taking both games of the double header.
GAME 1: L, 8-0 (6 INN)
The Lions bats struggled to get going on a cold spring day in New Jersey. In game one
Kathryn Baptiste tallied a single for the Lions. Baptiste's single in game one gives the sophomore Lions six hits on the young season.
Veronica Heckman reached base twice in game one drawing two walks.
Also recording a walk in game one was
Madison Lasko and
Monica Hernandez.
GAME 2: L, 7-3
In game two the Rutgers-Camden pitching staff was able to keep the Lions bats at bay only giving op one hit.
Hernandez collected the hit for the Lions reaching on a single. Hernandez has swung a hot bat to start the season and her Lion career. Hernandez is now up to 12 hits this season through the first 12 games played.
A quartet of Lions displayed strong plate discipline in game recording a combined five walks.
Emma Breschard led with two walks while Saide Gonzalez,
Aliza Langlois and Lasko each tallied a walk of their own.
The Lions tacked on two runs late but were unable to complete the comeback in the final inning. Scoring a run in game two was
