WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Albright men's track and field team competed in their first meet of the outdoor season on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The rain could not slow down the Lions as the team turned in multiple podium finishes to take home sixth place at the Purple and Gold Invite.
FULL MEET RESULTS
As a team Albright finished in sixth out of 18 teams in competition. Albright collected 22 points throughout the day across thanks due strong performances throughout the entire lineup.
Dante Zamichieli nearly won the 800m race finishing in second amongst a strong field. Zamichieli's time of 2:15.35 was just under three seconds faster than the third-place finisher. The junior student-athlete's second place finish earned the Lions eight points in the today's team competition. Zamichieli also took aim at the 1500m race finishing in 16
th out of 39 with a time of 4:34.01.
Dominick Magalhaes was outstanding in the javelin throw taking home a third pace finish. Magalhaes third place throw came in round two and reached a distance of 40.68m. The throw was just one of three throws in the field to reach over 40m. Albright was awarded six points for Magalhaes third place finish.
Andrew Myers took home fourth in the 400m race finishing in a time of 53.85. Myers, competing in his first outdoor track meet of his Lion career blazed by the competition to earn Albright five points with the fourth-place finish.
Julian Lucas performed well in the 100m dash taking 14
th out of the 31-person field. Lucas ran to a tune of 11.91 beating out multiple division two opponents.
Gregory Hammond also competed in the 400m race and turned in a time of 58.00 taking first in his respective heat.
