CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Albright College softball team (3-13) played in their second double header of the weekend on Sunday afternoon on the road at Wilson College (5-4). The Phoenix took both games of today's double header over the Lions on their home field.
GAME 1: L, 4-1
Marissa Rovenstine tallied the RBI for the Lions in game on a single up the middle. Rovenstine is now up to six RBIs this season which is good for second on the team through 15 games played.
Wilson scored four times over the first four innings of play to take a 4-0 lead. The Phoenix were shut out the rest of the game but the four runs scored proved to be all they needed in game one to earn the victory.
Jadelyn Van Winkle started game one for the Lions and threw two scoreless innings. Van Winkle recorded one strikeout only giving up two hits in the two innings pitched.
Albright's hits in game one was collected by
Heather Pomante,
Veronica Heckman,
Madison Lasko and
Cassidy Capolete. All five hits in the opening game of the double header for the Lions were singles.
Capolete tallied the run scored for the Lions and recorded a stolen base for Albright.
GAME 2: L, 8-5
A quartet of Lions collected multi hit games in game two against Wilson. As a team the Lions produced 11 hits in game two.
Lasko led way recording three overall hits and one extra base hit. Lasko's three hit day marks the first time the Albright catcher has recorded three or more hits in a game in Lasko's career. The sophomore ended her day with the three hits while also adding two RBI's.
Kaitlyn Aasheim earned two RBIs at the plate going 1-3 overall. Aasheim's two third inning RBIs marked the first two RBIs of the season for the sophomore.
Heather Pomante,
Veronica Heckman and
Cassidy Capolete all tallied two hits each in game two for the Lions. For Capolete, the multi hit game marks the first of the first-year Lions career. For Pomante and Heckman the multi hit game marks the second of the season for both Lions.
Capolete now has a hit in three straight games increasing her batting average to .364 on the season. Heckman has run her own hit streak to four games adding to that streak today and is now hitting a respectable .270 so far this season.
Pomante and
Kathryn Baptiste both scored two runs for the Lions while
Sadie Gonzalez scored a run of her own after coming into the game as a pinch runner.

Albright will have a few days off before returning to action on Thursday, March 28 at home against Alvernia. The first game will start at 3:00 p.m. with the second game to follow.
