READING, Pa. – Albright men's lacrosse (5-5) fell in their last non-conference game of the season against Misericordia (5-5). In a game of many momentum switches, the visiting Cougars left with a 17-13 win.
Sophomore
Joost Van der Horst extended his scoring streak to four games less than a minute into the first quarter. With a pair of goals and assists, Van der Horst has recorded four or more points in six of the team's last seven games bringing his impressive points total to 55 on the season.
Misericordia ended the first half with a sizeable 10-4 lead and seemed to have all the momentum going into the second half.
However, sophomore
Justin Moroney recorded two of his team high four goals in the third quarter bringing Albright to within two by a score of 12-10. Moroney's four goals extends his streak of having at least a hat trick to six games, bringing his goal total to 23 on the season.
Junior
Jon Alvarez scored for the second time in as many games tallying his sixth goal of the season.
Jack Burke scored a pair of goals to bring his season total to 26. Burke has scored in eight of the teams 10 games so far this season leading him to being second on the team in goals.
Sophomore
Nick Antonio recorded his second hat trick in three games along with an assist to extend his streak of at least four points to three games.
James Elko, the reigning MAC Commonwealth offensive player of the week, scored the then tying goal with just under 14 minutes to go in the fourth quarter. Elko currently leads the team in assists (21) along with being second in total points (46).
Misericordia would end up going a 5-1 scoring run securing a 17-13 win over the lions.
Justinus Park won 20 plus faceoffs for the second week in a row with an impressive 25 of 32 effort this afternoon. With this performance Park surpassed the impressive mark of 500 career faceoff wins sitting at 514 career faceoff wins.
