Men’s Lacrosse Drops Home Game to Messiah

The men’s lacrosse team hosted Messiah University on Saturday afternoon under dark and cloudy skies at Shirk Stadium. The Falcons won today by a final score of 21-10.

READING, Pa. – The Albright men's lacrosse team (5-8, 0-3 MAC Commonwealth) hosted Messiah University (9-2, 3-0 MAC Commonwealth) today under cloudy skies. The Falcons of Messiah University escaped Reading with an 21-10 win over the Lions.

Jack Burke led the way offensively for Albright tallying three goals for his fifth hattrick of the season. Burke continues to rack up the points this season adding four today on three goals an assist.

Lucas Dees scored twice today for the first time in his career. Dees had three total shots on his way to his first multi goal game as a Lion.

Jon Alvarez continues to turn defense into offense scoring two more goals today while also causing two turnovers. Alvarez now has two such games this season scoring two or more from his defensive position. Alvarez finished with three total points adding an assist while tying his season high with five ground balls.

Hunter Fitterling was strong defensively for the Lions recording a team leading three caused turnovers and adding two ground balls. Fitterling is sitting on 99 career ground balls with four games left in the season.

Messiah caught fire early in the contest scoring seven times in the first 15 minutes of play. The Falcons used their big opening quarter to lead 13-2 at the break.

Albright battled back in the third period doubling up Messiah 6-3 in the frame cutting their deficit to eight heading into the fourth period. In the end the Messiah attack was too much to overcome for the Lions.

James Elko, Ryan Houghtaling and Joost Van der Horst rounded out the scoring for the Lions each scoring one goal. Van der Horst added an assist to finish his day with two points and four ground balls.

Luke Williams was active all day for the Lions collecting five ground balls from his midfield position. The five ground balls marks a new career for the sophomore Lion. Ryan Conover added three ground balls and a caused turnover defensively.

Albright will head on the road to Hood College on Wednesday, April 17 for matchup with the Blazers. The game will start at 6:30 p.m. from Frederick, Maryland.
