ST. DAVID'S, Pa. – Baseball (10-19, 4-12 MAC Commonwealth) opened their weekend series against Eastern (14-18, 5-11 MAC Commonwealth) this afternoon on the road. The Lions outhit Eastern six to five in the game but were only able to plate two runs.
Coming into the MAC Commonwealth weekend series, the Lions won six of their last seven games including back to back series wins over Eastern and Stevenson. Albright can win their third straight conference series by taking both ends of tomorrow's double header.
Jack Gilmer remains hot at the plate collecting two more hits today from the leadoff spot. Gilmer is six for his last nine at the plate overall. The starting shortstop scored his 18
th run of the season in the eight inning.
Nick Barton went one for four at the dish with an RBI.
Zander Tesoriere matched Barton at the plate with one hit and added a walk and a run scored.
Albright threatened in the eighth inning scoring two runs on two hits in the inning. The Lions unfortunately left the bases loaded in the inning ultimately dropping game one of the series.
Roman Berretta and
Chris Gorla rounded out the hits for the Lions. Berretta and Gorla make up two of the Lions to be hitting at least .300 on the season. The duo has combined for 56 hits this season.
Eddie Cruz threw four scoreless innings for the Lions. Cruz entered in the sixth inning and scattered one hit while striking out four batters and walking none. The strikeout total and innings pitched mark new career highs for the Lions pitcher.
