READING, Pa. – The Albright women's tennis team (14-2, 5-0 MAC Commonwealth) has won seven straight matches by beating Arcadia (6-5, 2-2 MAC Freedom) by a final score of 9-0. The win is fourth straight for Albright without dropping a single game in the match.
Albright secured their first MAC Commonwealth playoff appearance since 2014 with a 9-0 win over Hood College yesterday afternoon. The win was the fifth straight MAC Commonwealth win keeping the Lions perfect mark in conference play this season.
Yesterday's win not only clinched a playoff spot for Albright but also guaranteed them a top two seed in the playoffs. With a win over Eastern on Tuesday (April 23) the Lions will secure the number one seed and host the first round of playoffs.
There is no stopping the Lions as they have now won four straight matches by 9-0 team scores. Today's win was another impressive won as each individual singles match was won in straight sets. Throughout the six singles matches, the Lions only allowed Arcadia to win 17 total sets. Overall this is the first win over Arcadia since the 2012 season.
The Lions continue to rewrite the history book this season with another win coming for the first time in at least 10 years this afternoon. Already this season the Lions have broken decade long losing streaks to York College, Messiah, Alvernia and now Arcadia.
