READING, Pa. – Baseball finally concluded their home and home series with Penn State Berks on Thursday afternoon. Albright looked to earn yet another comeback victory in today's game and came up just short falling to Penn State Berks 5-4 in nine innings.
Albright and Penn State Berks were originally scheduled to play their home and home series during the early weeks of April. Albright won the first game of the series in a high scoring affair 10-8.
Tommy Lewman hit a late home run in the game to give the Lions the lead for good.
Albright entered the ninth inning down by two looking to add to their already numerous total of comeback wins this season. Albright was able to plate one run in the top of the ninth inning but were unable to complete the comeback this time around. Penn State Berks Ashvin Premkumar got the final out leaving an Albright Lion in scoring position.
The Lions produced eight hits led by
Brenden Stuhltrager and
Trey Smith. Both Stuhltrager and Smith each had two hits. Stuhltrager finished with one run scored and one RBI while Smith added two runs on the afternoon.
Owen Morais went one for four at the plate with a run scored.
Nick Barton added one hit and an RBI on the day.
J.D. Graziano pitched well for the Lions in relief throwing four innings of scoreless baseball. Graziano kept the base runners at a minimum only allowing one hit and striking out two batters.
Rounding out the hits for Alright was
Aidan Sturtevant and
Christian Eckstein.
