CHESTER, Pa. – Dante Zamichieli of the men's track and field team had a historic day on the track on day two of Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Zamichieli set the new program record in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:41.05.
John Villano made it two Lions to earn podium finishes on the day tying for 7
th in the high jump.
DAY 2 RESULTS
Dante Zamichieli took home 5
th in the men's 300m steeplechase in addition to setting the new program record in the event. The previous record was set back in 2006 by John Barkley. The race was the first time that Zamichieli competed in the event at the MAC Championships. The time of 9:41.05 earned the Lions five points in the team competition.
John Villano competed in his third MAC Championships in the high jump event. Villano has a silver and bronze medal in the event and today added his third podium finish in the evet. Villano finished in a tie for 7
th bowing out at a bar height of 5.11.75''. Five different competitors finished in a tie for 7
th
Christian Jusino was in action in the discuss throw and turned in a best throw of 122'6.
The 4x100 relay team of
Sam Saydowary,
Julian Lucas, Beyah Rembert and Gregory Hammond narrowly missed qualifying for tomorrow's finals with a time of 43.97.
