Football Drops Road Game to Widener

Albright football went on the road for their second straight game on Saturday afternoon facing off against Widener. The Pride won today’s game 21-0 over the Lions.

CHESTER, Pa. – The Albright football Lions (1-3, 0-2 MAC) played in their second straight road game on Saturday afternoon against the Widener Pride (2-1, 2-0 MAC). The Pride won today's Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) battle by a final score of 21-0.

Albright has played in two straight road games to open MAC play. The next road game for Albright will be in a months' time on October 19 when the Lions head to Stevenson.

Offenses struggled for both teams today as the first half only saw one touchdown. Widener led 7-0 at the break on a two-yard touchdown run.

Picking up in the fourth quarter with the same score holding in favor of Widener. Albright put together a nice drive looking to get on the scoreboard but came up short on a 42-yard missed field goal.

The ensuing Widener possession went for six points to stretch their lead to 14-0. The Pride would add an interception return for a touchdown capping the scoring in the game, winning the game 21-0.

The Lions defense played well making life difficult on the Pride. The defense forced two turnovers, an interception and a fumble. Taylor Heflin picked off the Widener QB and returned it 35 yards. Samuel Moratori forced the fumble that was scooped up by Heflin.

Sebastian Robinson was active all day recording nine solo tackles and an assisted on a tackle for 10 total. The 10 total tackles are a career high for Robinson. Moratori was second on the team with seven solo tackles.

Darien Osmun registered he second sack of the season finishing with five total tackles.

John Boston has been a welcomed sight to the Albright offense rushing for 81 yards. The 81 yards is the second time this season Boston has tallied at least 80 yards on the ground. Boston averaged 6.8 yards a carry.

Ryan Green hauled in three catches for 34 yards. Both totals led the Albright passing attack.

Albright will return home next weekend for Homecoming welcoming Eastern to town. The Homecoming game will start at 12:00 p.m. at Shirk Stadium.
