READING, Pa. – Women's Soccer (1-4-1) returned home for match with Juniata (6-1-1). Following 90 minutes of momentum switches and competitive play, the visiting Eagles left with a 2-1 win.
Mackenzie Sowers scored her second goal of the season via a set of remarkable moves to cut through Juniata's defense for the games first score. Sowers is tied for the team lead in goals through six games.
The first half saw little offense for both sides after Sowers' goal and ended with the Lions up 1-0 through 45 minutes of play.
Juniata would go on to tie the game at 1-1 in the 79
th minute to finally breakthrough the stellar defensive effort from the Lions.
The last 10 minutes of play saw both sides miss close opportunities and struggle to generate offense to go along with clutch pass and shot breakups from their defenses.
The visiting Eagles would go on to score in heartbreaking fashion off of a corner kick in the final seconds to take a 2-1 lead.
McKenna LeVan recorded seven saves in her 90 minutes in net to go along with several other clutch grabs to cancel numerous additional shots from the Eagles.
