READING, Pa. – The Albright men's soccer team improved to 3-0 on Saturday evening with a convincing 4-1 win over Pitt-Greensburg.
John Villano netted two goals in the early going of the game to lead the Lions past the Bobcats.
The Lions have scored four goals in two of out of their three games this season. Albright opened the season with a 4-0 shutout win over Penn State Berks. Additionally, the Lions have outscored their opponents 9-1 so far this year.
Villano scored his first and second goals of the season within a minute of each other. Villano scored in the 11
th minute off assists by
Jose Serrano and
Christian Bowles. The second goal came just 39 seconds later to put Albright up 2-0.
Gael Velazquez was credited with the helper.
Pitt-Greensburg added a goal late in the first half to make it a 2-1 score after 45 minutes of play.
With the game still at 2-1, Albright had a set piece off a corner and looked to increase their lead. Velazquez played the ball in and found a streaking
Austin Gross who headed the ball in with authority.
Albright added one more goal for good measure courtesy of Bowles. Bowles goal was his fourth of the season in just three games.
Albright led in shots 19-11 making life difficult on the Pitt-Greensburg defense.
Cooper Walters came on at halftime and did not allow a goal in his 45 minutes of action. Walters was strong in net making three saves.

Albright will have the week off before returning to play next Saturday, September 14 on the road at Valley Forge. The game is set for a 3:30 p.m. start time.
