READING, Pa. – The Albright Men's Basketball team (6-6, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth) hosted their first conference game of the season against Alvernia (9-4, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth). Following 40 minutes of play, the Lions fell to the visiting Golden Wolves by a score of 79-61.
Prior to the game, Senior
Eric Chamberlain was honored for his achievements of surpassing both 1,000 points and 200 steals for his career.
Phanique Dupree led the way for the Lions and tied for a team high 12 points and hauled in 12 rebounds for a double-double in addition to six blocked shots.
Tying Dupree with 12 points was
Jeremiah Stanton who also dished out a team high five assists. Stanton made a number of clutch shots and passes as the first half winded down allowing the Lions to take the lead into the locker room at halftime.
After being down 11-0 at the start of the game, the Lions offense propelled them to a 33-19 run to enter halftime with a 33-30 lead.
Isaac LaPierre and
Qadir Mitchell each recorded 11 points off the bench and combined for five three pointers on ten attempts. Both players converted over half of their shots in the effort.
A 49-point explosion by Alvernia in the second half ultimately lifted them comfortably past the Lions by a score of 79-61.
