READING, Pa. – The Albright Women's Basketball team (6-6, 0-2 MAC Commonwealth) returned home to host their first MAC Commonwealth game against Alvernia (8-5, 2-0 MAC Commonwealth). Throughout the game, the Lions showed great levels of resilience and made numerous comeback attempts in a 84-69 loss.
Mackenzie Dover recorded team highs in both points (20) and steals (3) and tied for the team lead in assists (4) in 36 minutes on the court.
The Lions entered halftime trailing by a score of 44-30 and trailed by as many as 16 points throughout the game.
However, frequent runs from the Lions often led by
Julia Parmelee and
Julia Zakovitch allowed them to cut the lead to as little as four in the fourth quarter. Zakovitch's 10 points were second on the team while Parmelee recorded a steal, two assists and three rebounds in 10 minutes off the bench.
Orianna Edmond converted on half of her shot attempts to end up with eight points and a block in 13 minutes.
Shakyla Mayo and
Kenedy Cooper combined for four threes on five shots and led the Lion's scoring efforts from downtown.
After trailing by as little as four, the Golden Wolves closed out the Lions with a 15-4 run to leave with their second MAC Commonwealth win of the season.
