FREDERICK, Md. – The women's basketball team (6-7, 0-3 MAC Commonwealth) went on the road for their third conference game of the season taking on Hood College (5-9, 1-2 MAC Commonwealth). The Blazers left their home gym with a 68-59 win.
Ciarra Gibbs put up 10 points marking her highest offensive output of the season for the first year Lion. The 10 points also marks the first time Gibbs has tallied double figures in her Albright career. Gibbs added five rebounds in an all-around solid effort.
Hood led by six at the break 30-24 in a low scoring affair through the first 30 minutes. The Lions climbed back into the game in the third quarter, scoring 20 points to Hood's 13 in the frame.
Albright was able to cut the lead to one with 3:41 left to go in the game. From that point, Hood imposed their will over the next two minutes, going on a 7-0 run to seal the victory.
CJ Apistar,
Julia Zakovitch and
Orianna Edmond all ended up in double figures scoring 10 points each. Apistar buried two threes and hauled in five rebounds while adding two assists and two steals.
Shakyla Mayo was strong on the glass bringing in a season high seven rebounds, just one rebound shy of tying her career high.
Albright went 10-12 from the free throw line as a team seeing
Mackenzie Dover, Apistar and Zakovitch all going a perfect 2-2 from the charity stripe.
