Men’s Basketball Cruises over Eastern

Three Lions set or tied career highs for the team’s fourth win in their last five games.

READING, Pa. – The Albright Men's Basketball team (10-7, 5-2 MAC Commonwealth) picked up conference win number five against Eastern (8-10, 1-6 MAC Commonwealth). The Lions scored 40 or more points in both halves for one of their smoothest offensive performances of the season. The 88-78 win over the Eagles is the third win of 10 or more points this season for Albright. 

Albright picked up there 10th win of the season having won four of their last five games overall. The 10 wins gives Albright back-to-back seasons with at least 10 wins. Tonight's win ends a two game skid to Eastern while also marking the second largest margin of victory over the Eagles in the teams head to head series. 
 
Eric Chamberlain dropped 34 points to lead all scorers which included him also accounting for six rebounds and six assists. The 34 points serve as a new career high for Chamberlain and the first time the senior has recorded 30+ points in his career. 
 
Phanique Dupree continues to lead the country in blocks matching his career high with eight blocks tonight. Dupree recorded his eighth double-double of the season via 14 points and 10 rebounds. 
 
Also tying a career high was Chris Kouemi who had 17 rebounds which ended up being a game high. Of his 17 rebounds, nine were offensive which included three on one possession alone. Kouemi finished second on the team with 16 points in a monster game from the Albright senior. 
 
Chamberlain's offensive explosion along with Dupree's lockdown defense allowed the Lions to end the half leading by a score of 40-33. 
 
Jeremiah Stanton led the Lions in assists with eight along with shooting a perfect six for six at the charity stripe to end the night with 14 points. 
 
The Lions would go on to put up 48 second half points to win comfortably by a score of 88-78 after leading by as many as 14.

The Lions travel to face Alvernia on Saturday (2/1) at 3:00 pm which will serve as the first of two on the road.
