NEW LONDON, Conn. – Albright women's basketball (6-4) opened up the new year with a road game against the United States Coast Guard (USCG) (11-1) in the team's final non-conference game of the season. The USCG Bears won 82-61 over the Lions.
The Lions played in their first game since December 20 this afternoon and their first road game since November 23. The game marked the final non-conference game of the regular season with conference play set to open this upcoming Wednesday.
Mackenzie Dover is inching closer to 1000 career points with another 20-point performance this afternoon. Dover went for 20 points for the third time overall this season including in back-to-back games. The guard led the team in scoring and was second on the team in the game with six rebounds.
Albright found themselves on top after the games first 10 minutes 19-14. The Bears outscored the Lions by 13 in the second frame to take an eight-point lead into the break. The second half went the way of USCG who ultimately would go on to win their 11
th game of the season and their 10
th in a row.
Kenedy Cooper shot 50% from the field for nine points to go along with two rebounds and two steals.
Orianna Edmond pulled in nine total rebounds including six on the offensive end.
Gigi Serrano went 2-2 from distance resulting in eight points.
Julia Zakovitch finished with seven points and four rebounds.
