GRANTHAM, Pa. – Albright women's basketball (6-5, 0-1 MAC Commonwealth) opened up Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth play on Wednesday night against Messiah (10-2, 1-0 MAC Commonwealth). The Falcons were able to pick a 75-53 win on their home floor.
Messiah came into tonight's game receiving votes in the D3Hoops.com Top 25 poll and were ranked #21 in the latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association poll.
Albright has opened with Messiah to start conference play in back-to-back seasons. The Falcons jumped out to a 15-point lead at halftime and outscored the Lions by seven in the second half to secure the victory.
Mackenzie Dover scored 14 points leading the offensive output for the Lions. Dover made both of her three-point attempts finishing 4-8 overall from the field.
Gigi Serrano finished in double figures for the second time this season with 10 points. Serrano collected five rebounds and two steals on the night.
CJ Apistar also knocked down both of her three-point attempts ending the night with nine total points. Apistar played 34 minutes tonight leading the Lions in minutes.
Chrisdin Jones added six points while the trio of
Julia Zakovitch,
Shakyla Mayo and
Ciarra Gibbs all finished with four points each.
