READING, Pa. – Men's Soccer (5-5-4, 0-2-1 MAC Commonwealth) returned home for the first of five MAC Commonwealth games beginning with Messiah (5-7-2, 2-0-1 MAC Commonwealth). Both teams turned in great defensive performances in what would go on to be a 1-0 win for Messiah.
Neither team would be able to find the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes thanks to strong efforts from their goaltending and defensemen.
Myles Mitchell would lead the Lions' offensive effort with a pair of second half shots and helped set up additional scoring chances for his teammates.
Also contributing to the Lions attack efforts were
Daniel Lowman and
Thayne Kahl who both contributed for a number of additional shots and scoring chances.
Mike Lawry turned in an outstanding performance in goal and finished the game with a career best 14 saves in addition to a number of clutch grabs and breakups to stifle golden scoring chances for the Falcons' offense.
Ultimately, the Falcons would finally breakthrough with the game's only goal in the 86
th minute of play to secure a road conference win over the Lions.
