Football Routs FDU-Florham for Homecoming

The Lions returned to Shirk Stadium to celebrate homecoming after two straight on the road.

READING, Pa. – Albright Football (4-3, 3-3 MAC) played on their home turf for the first time in nearly a month and hosted FDU-Florham (0-7, 0-6 MAC). The Lions followed up an early field goal with a touchdown midway through the second quarter to jumpstart a 32-18 win.

As a team the Lions ran 65 plays for 346 yards and controlled the ball for just over 32 minutes of play.

John Boston scored the game's first touchdown in the form of a three-yard run to cap off a 10-play drive lasting just over five minutes. Boston finished with 175 total yards of offense which included surpassing 100 rushing yards (117) for the fourth time in five games.

The defense stifled the Devil's offense and held them to only three points through the first 45 minutes of play. Gavin Gallo recovered a fumbled snap on a 4th and one in the first quarter for the game's lone takeaway.

Chase Roberts threw for 220 yards which included touchdown passes to Arthur Poindexter on each of the team's first two possessions of the second half. Poindexter finished the day with an even 100 yards receiving and two touchdowns on four catches. The sophomore will look to surpass the 800-yard mark next week against King's.

The last score of the game for the Lions came in the form of DeAndre Clemons' first collegiate touchdown. Clemons was first hit roughly 10 yards from the endzone before he and his teammates kept pushing and pushing the pile in what turned out to be a 12-yard touchdown run. Clemons finished the day with 25 yards on three carries.

First-Year defensive back Ian Adams continues to have a vital role within the team's secondary and recorded three pass breakups and five total tackles.

Darien Osmun and Samuel Moratori tied for the team lead in tackles with eight and each recorded a sack on the Devils' last drive to end any chance of a late game rally from their opponents.

The Lions have now doubled their win total from last season and have already won their most conference games since the 2017 season.
