Men’s Wrestling’s Trent Mahoney Ranked #10 in Open Mat Rankings at 157 Pounds

The Albright men’s wrestling team will make their anticipated return to the mats tomorrow competing in the Alvernia Invitational.

READING, Pa. – Men's wrestling will return to the mats this weekend at the Alvernia "Tonee Ellis Memorial Tournament" for the first time since 2006. The men's wrestling program was reinstated in December of 2024. Tomorrow's Invitational will begin at 11:00 a.m. from the campus of Alvernia University.
 
Earlier this week "The Open Mat" released their annual preseason rankings. Albright's Trent Mahoney was tabbed as #10 in the country at 157 pounds. Mahoney is a graduate student and is entering his first season with the Lions in 2025-26. The full "Open Mat" preseason rankings can be found here.
 
Mahoney has enjoyed a fantastic career to date, being the DII era leader in career wins with 101 and pins with 50. At the DII level Mahoney wrestled for King College (Tennessee) and was a two-time NCAA DII national qualifier. In the 2024-25 season, Mahoney was ranked as high as #5 in the country.
