READING, Pa. – Women's Basketball (0-1) played at the Bollman Center for the first time this season against Stockton (2-0). After struggling in the first half, the Lions charged back with a phenomenal second half effort to bring the game down to the wire. Ultimately, the Ospreys would hold on for a 60-59 win.
Chrisdin Jones led all scorers with 19 points which included converting nine free throws in addition to recording three steals.
After a back-and-forth opening quarter, a strong second quarter performance by the Ospreys would allow them to take a 33-20 lead into halftime. Stockton's lead would grow to as much as 22 points (43-24) with just under five minutes to go in the third quarter.
Julia Parmelee would play a large role in in sparking the team's second half comeback thanks to a number of clutch plays that helped engineer a 12-1 run to close out the third quarter. Parmelee finished with 11 points and a team best five steals.
After a stellar close to the third quarter, the Lions found themselves within striking distance again by a score of 47-38.
Directing the flow of the offense throughout the game was
CJ Apistar who played the entire 40 minutes and dished out a team high five assists while converting six free throws.
After trailing since the early first quarter, the Lions would complete their comeback to tie the game up at 55-55 with under two minutes remaining. The score would tie twice more in the final 90 seconds before a Stockton free throw gave the Ospreys the lead in the form of the game's final basket with three seconds remaining.
