SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Men's basketball (1-5) played their only game of the week on Tuesday evening against Swarthmore (5-1). Swarthmore took control of the game in the second half to win 74-65 on their home floor.
Phanique Dupree recorded five blocks to become the program leader in career blocks.
Albright entered halftime with a two-point 38-36 lead. The Lions held the Garnet to 37.8% shooting while recording seven first half blocks as a team.
With just over 10 minutes gone in the second half Swarthmore climbed in front leading 58-51. Albright would come as close as six down over the game's final minutes, but Swarthmore maintained their lead to secure the home victory.
Dupree already owns the single season blocks record and with five blocks tonight becomes the programs all time blocks leader. 155 career blocks to date surpassed the previous program high of 152 set by Kyle Jordan (2010-2014).
Of the 63 career games played by Dupree he has recorded at least five blocks in 17 of those games. The senior forwards current per game block average of 2.4 would be good for the program's best mark.
Qadir Mitchell and
Jeremiah Stanton led the way with 18 points each. For Mitchell it was his sixth straight game to start the year scoring at least 15 points and for Stanton the scoring output tied a season high.
Spencer Fuller-Wright scored seven points to go with two rebounds and a block.
Akhir Keys knocked down two three's for six points while collecting two rebounds.
The Lions finished with 10 blocks as a team seeing five different players record at least one block.
