READING, Pa. – Men's Basketball (1-0) began their 2025-2026 campaign on their home court against Penn St. Berks (0-1). Four different Lions would end the night with 12+ points in what turned out to be a 87-63 win for the Lions fueled by a 51-point second half.
Jeremiah Stanton was in full control of the game and scored 16 points which included four beyond the arc and a team best six assists in 32 minutes.
Also setting up teammates throughout the game was
Miles Smith who recorded five assists and converted on two of his four shots for five points.
A back and forth first half would end with the Lions entering the locker room with a 36-30 lead looking to jumpstart their offense for the final 20 minutes of play.
Joey Callahan would provide a much-needed spark off the bench and led all scorers with 18 points in 20 minutes of play. Callahan and Stanton tied with a game best four three pointers.
As a team the Lions would end up with 16 total three pointers which included connecting on 10 in the second half alone.
Chase McWhite made his Albright debut in style and turned in an efficient performance on both ends of the court. McWhite finished with a double-double in the form of 13 points and a game leading 11 rebounds.
The Lions' defensive effort would hold their opponents to a 32.5% shooting performance in the second half.
Malik Mbaye and
Josh Strong would each register blocked shots to help close out the win.
Loud cheers could be heard throughout the Bollman Center all night thanks to no shortage of support from the Albright community.
