Women’s Basketball Wins against Stevenson on Senior Day

The Lions honored their class of 2025 with their sixth conference win of the season against Stevenson.

READING, Pa. – The Albright Women's Basketball team (12-10, 6-6 MAC Commonwealth) played the second of two straight at home against the Stevenson Mustangs (9-15, 3-9 MAC Commonwealth). The Lions would outscore the Mustangs in three of four quarters in a game where they maintained control for a 58-51 win. The win keeps the Lions alive in the MAC Commonwealth playoff race heading into the final week of the regular season.

Prior to the game the team honored seniors Mackenzie Dover, Jacey Petruno and Saidat Abbas for their hard work and dedication to the team and to Albright over the years.

Mackenzie Dover led all scorers in her Senior Day game with 17 points which included three three-pointers to go along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Finishing behind Dover with 15 points was Orianna Edmond who recorded her fifth double-double of the season with a team high 10 rebounds and a block.

The Lions entered halftime trailing by a score of 26-25 after Stevenson's defense found some life in the second quarter.

With the Lions needing to step up their offense, CJ Apistar came through with a number of clutch second half shots, including a three-pointer, to finish with nine points and seven rebounds off the bench.

Saidat Abbas recorded a team high four steals in 14 minutes to help the Lions defense clamp down on the Mustangs and hold them to only 25 second half points which included allowing only one three-pointer on six attempts.

A rejuvenated offense and lockdown defensive performance allowed the Lions to end their Senior Day on a high note with a 58-51 win.
