READING, Pa. – The Albright Men's Lacrosse team (1-2) played their second home game of the season against the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins (0-2). After a slow first quarter, an offensive explosion from Albright in the second quarter helped them take control for a 15-10 victory. This win marks the first career victory for head coach
Derek Stump.
Jack Burke started the scoring early for the Lions burying the first of his two goals in the first minute of play. The senior has now moved into fourth all-time in program history for both goals and assists.
Also having a huge day was junior
Justin Moroney who scored a career high six goals including four in the second quarter alone.
The Lions entered halftime with a comfortable 10-4 lead after outscoring the Griffins 8-2 in the second quarter.
Nick Antonio started the third quarter by taking advantage of a man up situation with a goal off and assist from
Joost Van der Horst. Van der Horst finished with four points of his own via three assists and a goal in the third period.
Leading the team in assists was
James Elko who finished with four in addition to scoring two goals to tie Moroney for a team high six points.
Sean McNicholas picked up the win in net and picked up 19 saves putting him just short of tying his career high of 20.
After a controlled first half, five second half goals from the Lions were then enough for them to secure their first victory of the season on their home field.
