Men’s Lacrosse Falls to FDU-Florham in MAC Commonwealth Freedom Crossover Battle

The Lions played their second MAC Freedom team of the season on Saturday afternoon against the FDU-Florham Devils. FDU defended their home turf winning 19-14 over Albright.

MADISON, N.J. – Men's lacrosse (1-2) faced their second MAC Freedom team of the season on Saturday afternoon facing off against FDU-Florham (2-0). The Devils defeated the Lions on their home turf, winning 19-14.

The Lions held a 4-3 lead after the opening 15 minutes of play. FDU-Florham found their groove in the second period, scoring eight goals taking an 11-6 lead into the break.

Justin Moroney followed up his career day last time out with five goals and two assists today. The seven points for Moroney led the team as the junior attacker is up to 19 points in three games to start the season.

 Joost Van der Horst tied Moroney with five goals and added an assist for six total points. The five goals today puts Van der Horst over 50 career goals in just his second season with the Lions.

Justinus Park was solid in the face-off circle all afternoon winning 24 out of 32 faceoffs. Park added six ground balls in a solid performance from the senior.

Albright was able to cut the lead to 12-8 in the third but could not close the gap any further. The Devils would go on to win the game behind eight second half goals.

Ryan Houghtaling added two goals giving him at least one goal in every game to start the year. Jack Burke and Nick Antonio each added a goal of their own to round out the offensive output.

Hunter Fitterling tallied a team high seven ground balls on the defensive side.

The Lions will head on the road to another MAC Freedom member institution in Lebanon Valley on Wednesday, February 26. The game will start at 4 p.m.
