READING, Pa. – The Albright Women's Basketball team (11-8, 5-4 MAC Commonwealth) returned home to face the Hood Blazers (6-14, 2-7 MAC Commonwealth). Following 40 minutes of back-and-forth defense, the Lions would lose a heartbreaker to the Blazers by a score of 56-51.
Orianna Edmond led the way for the Lions with a team high 12 points and snagged 13 rebounds to end the night with a double-double.
Chrisdin Jones stepped up in her first career start and finished second on the team with 10 points of her own and led the team with three assists and recorded a pair of steals.
The Lions entered halftime trailing by a score of 27-23 where neither team was able to get their offense going for long periods of time. The Lions defense held Blazers to only nine total points in the first quarter.
Kenedy Cooper and
CJ Apistar led a lockdown effort for the Lions and tied for the team lead in steals (3) with Apistar also recording a blocked shot.
Jacey Petruno and
Julia Parmelee each stepped up off the bench and contributed to a number of clutch passes and defensive breakups for a Depleted Lions backcourt.
Unfortunately for the Lions, the Blazers offense would finally breakthrough in the fourth quarter with 22 points to eventually give them the lead in the final minute to ultimately win 56-51.
