READING, Pa. – The Albright Men's Lacrosse team (1-7) played SUNY Potsdam (3-1) in the third of four straight games at home. Following four quarters of play, the visiting Bears would down the Lions at home 21-9.
Joost Van der Horst scored the game's first goal just over two minutes after the opening whistle and accounted for four shots on goal.
James Elko led the way for the Lions offense with eight shots on goal which resulted in four goals and a hat trick in the first quarter alone. The junior has now amassed 31 points in the team's eight games.
The Lions entered halftime trailing by a score of 11-5 after the SUNY Potsdam offense came to life in the second quarter.
Ryan Houghtaling and
Nick Antonio each found the back of the net twice to combine for five points with Houghtaling also picking up an assist on the day.
As a team the Lions accounted for a total of 25 ground balls with
Justinus Park and
Ryan Conover tying for the team lead with five.
Brandon Jones led a fighting Lions defense and caused two of the team's six forced turnovers.
