SCRANTON, Pa. – Softball (3-19) began their week on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader against the Marywood (11-15) Pacers on the road. Marywood took both ends of the doubleheader on their home field.
Game 1:
Marywood was able to jump on the Lions in the first two innings, scoring seven total runs.
The Pacers got a strong pitching performance to take game one of the doubleheader.
Juliette Licata collected two hits going 2-3 at the plate. The two-hit game is the sixth multi-hit game of the season for Licata.
Kaitlyn Aasheim earned the start at third base and recorded two hits in the process. The multi-hit game is the first of the season for Aasheim who makes the majority of her appearances pitching for the Lions.
Aliza Langlois went 1-3 with a run scored marking her 22
nd hit of the season. Langlois came around to score on a
Slaydon Fisher RBI groundout in the third inning.
Grace Landante went 1-3 at the plate with a double marking her fourth double of the season.
Game 2:
Marywood led late in the game 7-2 but the Lions were looking to mount a comeback in the late stages of the game.
Albright scored in each of the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. Kaitlyn Mulry led off the fifth inning with a walk. Saide Gonzalez pinch ran and would later come around to score on a Licata ground out.
Again, in the sixth inning, the Lions led off with a walk this time courtesy of Landante,
Jadelyn Van Winkle doubled to right center to score Landante to cut the Lions deficit to one run at the time.
The Lions threatened in the seventh inning, scoring two runs and having the tying run at the plate. Albright got their leadoff batter on base for the third straight inning. Langlois singled to center for an RBI that scored
Monica Hernandez.
Licata reached on a single in the at bat after Langlois giving the Lions life. Langlois scored the fourth and final run of the game before Marywood was able to get out of the jam and escape with a game two victory.

Albright will jump back into MAC Commonwealth play against Widner on Saturday, April 12. The doubleheader will start at 1 p.m.
