READING, Pa. – Softball (3-21) hosted Penn State Brandywine (21-7) on Monday afternoon to begin their week of games. The Nittany Lions took both ends of today's double-header on the Lions home field.
Today's games were the first for the Lions in almost a week. Saturday's scheduled double-header against Widener was postponed.
GAME 1:
The Lions produced 10 hits in game one. Six different Lions in the lineup collected at least one hit.
Juliette Licata tied a career high in hits with four in game one. Licata was not retired in game one reaching base every at bat. Licata has at least one hit in three straight games. The sophomore Lion came around to score ending an all-around solid day on the field.
Slaydon Fisher collected two hits in game one giving her her seventh multi hit game of the season. Fisher is now up to 22 hits total this season nearly averaging a hit per game.
Gabriella Weiss went 1-2 at the plate with am RBI, walk and a stolen base.
Jadelyn Van Winkle went 1-3 with a double while
Katie Behler and
Aliza Langlois tallied one hit each.
GAME 2:
Albright produced eight hits in game two, with four of those going for extra bases. The Lions scored one run in each of the first three innings.
Leading the way offensively was
Grace Landante who went 2-3 at the plate with a double and a run scored. Landante collected her fifth double of the year and the seventh multi-hit game of her season.
Licata continued to swing a hot bat in game two ending game two with a double and an RBI. The RBI double in the third inning went into the right field gap and scored
Riley Winchell. Licata now has at least one hit in four straight games and has raised her season average to .343.
Fisher and Van Winkle both tallied RBIs contributing to the Lions three runs in game two.
Roudning out the Lions hits in game two was
Ryleigh Prinz, Winchell and Langlois.
