Widener Topps Softball in Doubleheader

The Lions traveled to play their final out of conference road series against the Widener Pride.

Chester, Pa. – Albright Softball (3-23) traveled to Chester to play the Widener Pride (11-18) in a MAC Commonwealth showdown. Following a pair of games, the Pride would go on to sweep the Lions by scores of 7-4 and 10-3. 
 
Game 1:
 
Jadelyn Van Winkle started game one and pitched a full seven innings and picking up three strikeouts in the process. 
 
After a slow start, the Lions jumped out to a lead in the top of the fifth inning beginning with an RBI double from Juliette Licata to score Katie Behler
 
Also picking up RBIs in the fifth were Aliza Langlois and Slaydon Fisher to enter the bottom of the fifth leading 3-0. 
 
After Widener answered with a run in their half of the fifth, Riley Winchell would provide another run for the Lions via an RBI single to extend their lead to 4-1. 
 
After leading through six, the dormant Pride bats would finally awaken with homeruns in the sixth seventh and ninth innings to win game won in walk off fashion 7-4.
 
Game 2:
 
Game two also featured the Lions jumping out to a lead with a pair of runs in the first inning off the bats of Grace Landante and Isabella Cummings
 
The Pride would then respond with a seven-run surge in the fourth inning to take the lead by a score of 7-2.
 
Slaydon Fisher would add another RBI to her day in the fifth inning by way of reaching on a fielder's choice to cut into the Pride's lead. 
 
The pride would then add three more runs in the fifth and sixth innings to complete the sweep 10-3. 
 
Up Next:
 
The Lions continue to be on the road with a double header against Alvernia on Saturday (4/19) with game one starting at 1:00 pm.
