Baseball Scores Season High 19 runs against Penn State Berks

The Lions offense combined for 21 total hits as the team drive in double digit runs for the second time in as many games.

READING, Pa. – Albright Baseball (15-16) traveled to play Penn State Berks (8-22) after playing four of their previous five on their home field. Being on the road didn't faze the Lions at all as bats exploded out of the gate in what turned out to be a 19-4 blowout win for Albright.

The Lions jumped right out to a 6-0 lead after the top of the first inning with four different Lions picking up RBIs. Aidan Sturtevant picked up the first of his five hits with an RBI single to extend the Lions lead to 2-0. Sturtevant's five hits tied the program record for hits in a game.

The Lions responded with three more runs in the second inning to push their lead up to 9-0. Christian Eckstein would drive in a team high four RBIs and came around to score twice. "Tweak" has taken big strides offensively and has embraced the role as the team's leadoff hitter throughout the season.

Junior Colby Yaich pitched the first two innings for the Lions and struck out a pair of batters to record his second win of the season.

The Nittany Lions offense would briefly come to life and score four runs in the bottom of the third in an attempt to chip away at Albright's lead. What then followed was 10 unanswered runs for Albright in the final six innings.

Plyler Hunter drove in two runs via double to kickoff what would turn out to be a six run fifth inning for Albright.

Also driving in a pair of runs in the fifth inning was Jack Gilmer who hit a double of his own down the left field line to score Christian Eckstein and Jonathan Byers

Hayden McDonald, Quincy Bell, Wayne Hudson, Lukas Khandagle, Nick Bamrick and Matt Gerardi combined for six scoreless innings to close out the game.
