Baseball Wins Season Series against Stevenson

The Lions concluded their season series against Stevenson on the road in a doubleheader.

Owings Mills, Md. – Albright Baseball (12-13, 3-9 MAC Commonwealth) concluded a conference series on the road against Stevenson (8-21, 3-9 MAC Commonwealth). The Lions would go on to split the double header with the mustangs to win their first conference series of the year. 
 
Game 1:
 
Dominic Yeager started for the Lions and picked up his second win of the season. Yeager went on to pitch six of seven innings and recorded seven strikeouts while only surrendering one earned run. 
 
Game one started off as a pitcher's duel as both teams would be tied 1-1 after the first four innings of play. 
 
Chris Gorla drove in the first run of the day for the lions with an RBI single to score Christian Eckstein
 
Nick Barton, fresh off his 100th hit, would record two more throughout this game as the graduate student continues to build an impressive career. 
 
After Stevenson retook the lead in the fifth, the Lions answered back in the top of the seventh with Nathan Golden driving in a pair of runs to put the team back on top by a score of 3-2. 
 
Patrick Ahearn pitched the final inning to record his first save of the season in a 3-2 win. 
 
Game 2:
 
John O'Connor started for the Lions and allowed only one earned run in 3.1 innings of work and struck out five batters in the process. 
 
The Lions started game two fast and scored a pair of runs in the first inning off the bats of Michael Avino and Deklyn Marks. Both Avino and Marks would go on to reach base safely multiple times. 
 
Nick Barton would then drive in Chris Gorla and Michael Avino for two more runs in the third inning.
 
After the game was tied 4-4 after three innings, neither team would score again until Stevenson finally broke through in the bottom of the eighth inning for the go-ahead run. 
 
The Mustangs would then hold on to win game two of the double header 5-4. 
 
Up Next:
 
The Lions will return home to play Lancaster Bible on Wednesday (3/9) at 3:30 pm before their next conference series against Widener.
