HAGERSTOWN, MD. – Women's golf was back on the course this afternoon after competing less than 48 hours ago in the Elizabethtown Invitational. Today, Albright began the two-day Cardinal Classic Tournament hosted by Catholic University. The 36-holes of competition will be played at Blackrock Golf Club in Hagerstown, Maryland.
DAY 1 RESULTS
Fatima Rizvi is coming off a top 10 finish last time out taking eighth overall in this past weeks Elizabethtown Invitational. Rizvi continued her strong play this afternoon with a round of 78, good for just six shots over par.
Rizvi is well positioned heading into day two currently just five strokes behind the leader. Rizvi is consistently near the top of the leaderboard every time she tees up the ball in a tournament setting.
The round for Rizvi began in style this afternoon as the first-year Lion birdied holes two and three. The birdies came on a par three and a par five. Rizvi figures to be in the mix tomorrow afternoon competing for an individual victory.
Ilaria Catania is T18 after day one with an 18-hole score of 86. Catania was solid throughout her round, especially on the back nine playing holes 14-18 at just one over par. Catania is just five strokes behind the individual currently in 10
th place.
Braidan Wastler played one of the best rounds of her career and the season today. Wastler shot an 88 which places her firmly in the mix heading into tomorrow's round two. Despite playing on different courses this week, Wastler was able to shave off 17 strokes from Thursday's round.
