Fatima Rizvi Finishes Second Overall in Cardinal Classic

The women’s golf team wrapped up the two-day Cardinal Classic on Sunday afternoon. Fatima Rizvi finished solo second with a two-day score of 154.

HAGERSTOWN, Md.  – Women's golf concluded a busy week on Sunday afternoon on the final day of the two-day Cardinal Classic hosted by Catholic University. Fatima Rizvi earned her second top 10 finish of the spring season this afternoon finishing in second place. As a team, Albright improved on their scoring from day one to day two battling the heavy rains and winds during the middle of today's round.

RESULTS

The women's golf team has played 54 holes of golf since Thursday of this past week. The trio of Ilaria Catania, Braidan Wastler and Rizvi all played very well, and all are trending in the right direction heading into the final three weeks of the season.

" I am extremely proud of all three of our players performances throughout the weekend. They had to get up both mornings at 4:30 in the morning to be able to participate in this competition. We were the first team on the range hitting balls in the fog. Their dedication to the game of golf and Albright College clearly was on display today!", Said an overjoyed Eric Lamm about his team.

Rizvi led the charge this weekend finishing in solo second. A round of 78 yesterday and a round of 76 today allowed Rizvi to jump three spots on the leader board from her T5 position yesterday. Rizvi was two strokes better today than yesterday. Today's round began with a birdie that led to an even par 36 on the front nine.

In the end, Rizvi was able to do just enough on the back nine to secure another top five finish. The first-year Lion played the par fives at one under par while having two total birdies overall.

Catania improved by six strokes today from yesterday's round shooting a two-day total of 166. The two rounds are good for a T12 finish moving up six spots from yesterday's post round position of T18. Catania's round of 80 this afternoon is a new personal best round and was tied for the sixth best round in the second round.

Wastler concluded her two rounds with a score of 96 on Sunday. The front nine saw Wastler play the two-par three's at even par. Wastler was able to finish better than 11 golfers over the two days having a strong tournament overall.
