Men’s Lacrosse Falls on the Road to Widener

The Albright men’s lacrosse team returned to action on Wednesday evening just one game removed from nearly pulling off the upset against York last time out.

CHESTER, Pa. – Men's lacrosse (1-11, 0-2 MAC Commonwealth) fell on the road on Wednesday evening to host Widener (3-9, 2-0 MAC Commonwealth) in the teams second conference game of the season. The Pride took tonight's game 21-10 over visiting Albright.

Hunter Fitterling reached an individual career milestone on Wednesday evening recording his 100th career caused turnover. Fitterling added two caused turnovers tonight to reach and surpass the 100 career-mark.

Fitterling has been a mainstay on the Lions defense since the 2022 season. In all but one game this season, Fitterling has recorded at least one caused turnover and now is up 29 total caused turnovers this season.

The Pride opened a 11-6 lead after 30 minutes of play. In the second half, Widener was able to keep Albright's offense under control preventing the Lions from mounting a comeback.

James Elko led with three goals. Elko's three goal game is the fourth game this season scoring three or more goals in a game. Elko added a caused turnover and two ground balls in an all-around solid effort.

Jack Burke and Ryan Houghtaling each scored twice this evening. Burke added two assists for four total points in the game while Houghtaling added one assist to finish the game with three points.

Colton Lehrer recorded his first goal and assist of the season tonight. Lehrer assisted Houghtaling's goal in the first period and later scored in the second period.

Justin Moroney and Nick Antonio rounded out the Lions goals today seeing each Lion score once.

Sean McNicholas turned in another solid performance tonight recording his seventh straight game making 10 or more saves. McNicholas's save total of 18 tonight marks a new season high for the Lion keeper.
