READING, Pa. – Women's tennis (11-0, 2-0 MAC Commonwealth) continues to roll right along winning their 20
th straight regular season match by beating York (4-5, 0-2 MAC Commonwealth) 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Lions regular season win streak has now reached 20 matches in a row. In conference play, Albright has won their last 10 straight matches including the postseason.
Alex Pancu picked up her 56
th career #1 singles victory of her career on Wednesday winning 6-1, 6-1. Pancu is closing in the all-time #1 singles victories record currently held by Albright Hall of Famer Victoria Foanio (HOF class of '23) who totaled 61 career #1 singles victories.
The Lions won five of the six singles matches in straight sets this afternoon to help the team to convincing win.
Allison Horick and
Elicia Aponte each won their singles matches by the same score. Horick won 6-2, 6-2 in number three singles and Aponte won 6-2, 6-2 in #4 singles.
Alaina Smith won handily in #5 singles winning 6-1, 6-2.
Saba Soroush won 6-3, 6-1 in #6 singles.
Michelle Timohty went the distance in her match. Timohty won the first set 6-2 and the second set 4-6. Timohty, as she often does, dominated in the third set 6-2 to secure the singles matches sweep for the Lions.
In doubles, Albright won all three matches. Pancu and Horick won 6-4, Timothy and Aponte won 6-1 and Smith and Soroush rounded out the day with a 6-2 victory.
