Men's Wrestling: A Welcome from Coach Regner

READING, Pa. - Albright wrestling is back at Albright and is set to begin their 50th overall season. The official start to the season will begin on October 25 with the red and black wrestle offs. Below is a message from head men's wrestling coach, Kerry Regner

"Albright Wrestling Family!

We are back! For the first time in nineteen years Albright College has a varsity wrestling program! We couldn't be more thankful for the vision of administration Dr. Deborah and Athletic Director Rick Ferry for putting this plan into motion. The construction of the wrestling center is complete and it could not be BETTER! Another thank you to Rick O'leary Associate Vice President for the vision and completion of the renovation.

Believe it or not we are in our fifth week of school, we have 32 athletes on the wrestling team and preseason has begun! The team is currently lifting with strength and conditioning coaches Blake Ferrell and Tim Uhler. In addition, we have started mat practices and the team is working hard!

Below are a slew of upcoming events and current updates on OUR wrestling program! We can't wait to see you around!

Albright College to Celebrate the Opening of its new Wrestling Center
Albright College will mark the opening of its new wrestling center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, October 6 from noon to 2 p.m.

The event will honor the legacy of Albright's 49-year men's wrestling history, which included two MAC championships and four MAC runners-up between 1957 and 2006, and recognize the athletes, alumni, and supporters who contributed to the program's success. This celebration is timely as the college kicks off its reinstated NCAA Division III men's wrestling team in October and will launch its inaugural women's wrestling team, beginning competition in fall 2026.

This new space is located in the college's John Scholl LifeSports Center, which also houses an indoor track and field facility, racquetball courts, a golf performance center, and practice space for multiple athletic teams. The facility includes modern locker rooms and dedicated workout areas, all within a bright and welcoming environment. Albright President Debra M. Townsley, Ph.D., and Reading Mayor Eddie Moran will officiate at the event, which is open to students, alumni, and local community members. The space will be a lasting tribute to the sport and its impact on Albright and the Reading-Berks community.

"The wrestling garden patio is more than a gathering place. It's a symbol of the strength, resilience, and tradition of wrestling at Albright," said Townsley. "We're excited to celebrate this moment with our students, alumni, and community partners.  We are grateful to our dedicated alumni like John Scholl who made this project possible."

"The new wrestling facility is a game-changer for Albright," said Kerry Regner, head men's wrestling coach.  "Our student-athletes have a home where they can train, compete, and build a championship culture together. I'm excited about the future of both our men's and women's wrestling programs. This space shows our commitment to them and gives us an edge to recruit and develop top talent. There's never been a better time to be part of Albright wrestling."

A reception will follow the dedication to allow guests to connect, reflect on wrestling's rich history at Albright, and look forward to its future.

In the first few weeks of Mahoney coming to Albright he had this to say about his experience thus far. "My first few weeks here at Albright have been great. You can see the focus on the guys in the weight room and on the mats. We have a lot of talented guys and will be hard to beat."

"It is a privilege for a first year program to have a guy like Trent leading our team. Not just because of what he has accomplished in college wrestling, but because of his mindset.
