Washington, DC – The Albright Football team (1-0) traveled down south to face the Gallaudet Bison (0-1) in their 2025 opener. This marks the second time in as many seasons where the Lions have opened up with the Bison prior to conference play. This victory marks the first for head coach
Shaun Weaver.
After neither team was able to find the endzone in the first quarter,
Chase Roberts connected with
Alden Stickler for a 73-yard touchdown for the game's first score. Stickler picked up right where he left off in 2024 and finished with five receptions for 121 yards.
Leading the team in receptions was
Arthur Poindexter who hauled in nearly half of the team's total catches with 10 for a career high 134 yards.
The Bison would answer back with a touchdown of their own before halftime to take a narrow 7-6 lead over the Lions.
The second quarter touchdown would go on to be the only points scored by the Bison as the Lion's defense did a fantastic job of setting the tone from the opening kick. As a team the Bison were held to only 283 total yards of offense.
A 31-yard field goal from
Colin Schaeffer in the third quarter would put Albright back in the driver's seat with a 9-7 lead.
Ian Adams recorded five solo tackles as well as both forcing and recovering a fumble in the fourth quarter to end a seven-play drive for the Bison and put the ball back in the hands of the Lions.
From there on it was all Albright as the defense made clutch stop after clutch stop for the Lion's to leave with a key road victory to start their season.
