Men’s Basketball Picks Up Convincing Win over Messiah

The Lions earned their first conference win of the season on Wednesday evening downing Messiah on the road 79-57.

GRANTHAM, Pa. – Men's basketball (5-9, 1-2 MAC Commonwealth) earned convincing road win on Wednesday evening downing Messiah (4-10, 0-3 MAC Commonwealth) 79-57. The win is the first of the season within Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth play. Albright has won four of their last five meetings against Messiah.
 
Albright held a three-point margin at halftime 30-27. Messiah scored the first basket of the game marking their only lead across the entire 40 minutes of game play.

The second half was all Lions as the team proceeded to catch fire on the offensive end and shut down the Falcons on the defensive end. Albright outscored Messiah 49-30 in the second half ultimately leading to their second largest margin of victory this season. The 57 points are the least amount of points Albright has allowed in any game this season. 

Qadir Mitchell once again led all scorers having 24 points. Mitchell has stepped up his game this season, having at least 10 points in every game. The senior guard has four games this season scoring 24 or more points.

Phanique Dupree was the second of three Lions to finish in double figures scoring 15 points. Dupree added four rebounds, two steals and a block.

Chase McWhite was all over the floor this evening in his 29 minutes of game action. McWhite tallied his second double-double of the season having 13 points and a season high 13 rebounds while dishing out four assists. Defensively McWhite was credited with two blocks and a steal.

Jeremiah Stanton chipped in with seven points, six rebounds and four assists. Spencer Fuller-Wright earned the start tonight scoring seven points on a perfect 3-3 shooting from the field to go along with three rebounds.

Albright only committed 11 turnovers to Messiah's 17, which led to 18 points off turnovers for the Lions. Second chance points proved to be important during tonight's game as Albright scored 18 to Messiah's six.
