READING, Pa. – Men's Basketball (6-9, 2-2 MAC Commonwealth) began a two game home stand against Alvernia (8-6, 2-2 MAC Commonwealth). Following an electrifying conclusion from the Women's game, the Lions seized all momentum from the get-go and dominated the Golden Wolves 99-78. Today's game resulted in a season high in points scored by the Lions.
Leading all scorers with 33 Points was
Qadir Mitchell who connected on four of six three pointers and all seven of his free-throw attempts. The senior's quick start helped the Lions jump out to a 22-6 lead early in the first half.
Also dominating on offense was
Phanique Dupree who finished with 20 points while hitting 70% of his shots in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks.
The Lions ended the first half with a 22-point lead (57-37) largely impart to their play making and rebounds.
Jeremiah Stanton and
Miles Smith tied for the team lead with six assists apiece while 17 offensive rebounds led to 21 second chance points to the Golden Wolves' nine.
Chase McWhite finished with a double-double by way of 11 points and 14 rebounds. McWhite led all players in rebounds while setting career high in rebounds for the second time in as many games.
The second half saw the Lions keep up the offensive pressure and build their lead to as high as 24 points (95-71) before pulling their starters in the final minutes.
Miles Smith served as a defensive anchor and recorded a game best four steals, one of which set up a monstrous dunk for Dupree in the final stretch.
No shortage of cheers were present in the Bollman Center as a packed Albright crowd provided an electric atmosphere from start to finish to see the Lions earned their second conference win in convincing fashion.
