READING, Pa. – Women's Basketball (8-9, 4-2 MAC Commonwealth) traveled to York (6-11, 4-2 MAC Commonwealth) for an afternoon matchup with the Spartans. Through 40 minutes of play, a second half surge from the Lions offense would fall short in a 56-46 loss.
Chrisdin Jones led the way for the offense with 14 points and hit on eight of her nine free throws in addition to four rebounds and a team best three assists.
Joining Jones in double digits was
Kenedy Cooper who dropped 11 of her own including making a pair of three pointers in 33 minutes on the court.
Halftime saw the Lions trailing 33-13 looking to slow down the Spartans' high-powered offense and turn up the defensive intensity. Both
Julia Zakovitch and
Orianna Edmond would do just that as Zakovitch brought in a team high nine rebounds while Edmond accounted for two of the teams' five blocks.
The Lions would save their best for the final quarter outscoring the Spartans 22-7 in the final quarter which included all of the points for York having to come by way of free throws.
Camille McCaskell did a little bit of everything accounting for seven points in addition to combining for four rebounds and steals in 23 minutes of play.
