Mitchell and Keys Rain Fire in Win Over Eastern

The Lions remained red hot for their sixth straight conference win.

READING, Pa. – Men's Basketball (10-9, 6-2 MAC Commonwealth) picked up their 10th win of the season against Eastern (6-12, 3-5 MAC Commonwealth). Three Lions would end the night in double figures as Albright overpowered the visiting Eagles for their fifth win at home this season.

Qadir Mitchell led all scorers with 31 points in 34 minutes which included a pair of three pointers and converting on nine of his 11 free throw attempts. The senior remains red hot and is currently averaging just over 20 ppg (20.7). This marks Mitchell's third 30+ point performance of the season.

Defensively, the Lions held the Eagles to under 40% shooting (38.1) and combined for nine blocks which included Phanique Dupree and Chase McWhite tying for the team lead with three apiece.

The Lions entered halftime with a six-point lead (31-25) looking to generate a little more offense while keeping up the defensive intensity.

Akir Keys provided some strong minutes off the bench and finished with fifteen points by way of five three pointers in addition to a pair of rebounds and assists in 23 minutes of play.

Chase McWhite, Joey Callahan, Josh Strong and Miles Smith all found themselves involved on the defensive end and each recorded a steal.

After the Eagles started the second half hot, a 48 point second half in an all-around team effort was ultimately enough to lift the Lions over Eastern in the form of a 79-70 win.
