Men’s Basketball Soars Over Messiah; Lions Win Seventh Straight

The Lions controlled every aspect of the game from the opening tip for their 11th win of the season.

READING, Pa. – Men's Basketball (11-9, 7-2 MAC Commonwealth) hosted Messiah (4-15, 0-8 MAC Commonwealth) for the latter of back-to-back home games. Three Lions would end the night in double figures as the team won comfortably by a score of 83-68.

Phanique Dupree dominated both ends of the ball throughout the entire game and finished with a team high in points (22) and flirted with a double-double via nine rebounds in addition to three blocks and a steal. This marks the senior's fourth game with 20 or more points this season.

The Lions as a team stifled all offensive efforts by the Messiah and held the Falcons to a team shooting percentage of 36.4%. Chase McWhite joined Dupree in recording multiple blocks with a pair of his own while picking up two steals and 15 points in 24 minutes.

After Leading by as much as 15 (31-16), the Falcons would close the opening half strong to bring the Lions lead down to single digits (37-28) entering halftime.

Albright would show no hesitation in the second half and built their lead up as a high as 23 (69-46) behind an efficient and controlled offensive effort. Qadir Mitchell connected on six of his 11 shots for 18 points and dished out a game best six assists.

Jeremiah Stanton and Akhir Keys also contributed to the lockdown defensive effort each recording a steal of their own while the Falcons were held to only one three pointer on 10 attempts in the second half.

The game ended with the Lions resting their starters in the final minutes with a healthy lead allowing them to win their seventh straight game, all in conference play, by a 15-point margin.
